Climate-related financial disclosures are municipal reports or statements regarding the financial impacts of climate-related risks and opportunities, as well as the impacts of activities and decisions related to climate, the environment, and communities arising from their policies, services, infrastructure, land-use decisions, and procurement activities.

The process of climate-related financial disclosures has been continually evolving in municipalities, and this progression has been significantly shaped by emerging reporting standards and related resources. A key driver for local governments integrating climate-related financial disclosures is to be transparent about their actions and progress towards achieving their climate targets and strategic objectives aligned with their commitments to their community.

Join us on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 2 p.m. ET for a free webinar that aims to help Canadian municipalities and local governments as they prepare their own climate-related financial disclosures.

This webinar will be delivered in English with French simultaneous interpretation.

N-ZAP is a research partnership funded, in part, by the Government of Canada through the Climate Action and Awareness Fund (CAAF) and jointly led by the University of Waterloo, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ (FCM) Green Municipal Fund (GMF) and ICLEI Canada, working with 11 other academic institutions, and eight national organizations and 15 municipal partners.

La divulgation de l’information financière liée au climat consiste en des rapports ou des déclarations des municipalités portant sur les répercussions financières des risques et des occasions liés au climat, ainsi que les répercussions des activités et des décisions relatives au climat, à l’environnement et aux collectivités, découlant de leurs politiques, services, infrastructures, décisions d’aménagement du territoire et activités d’approvisionnement.

Le processus de la divulgation de l’information financière liée au climat a constamment évolué dans les municipalités, évolution fortement influencée par l’émergence de nouvelles normes de présentation de l’information et de ressources connexes. L’un des principaux facteurs qui incitent les gouvernements municipaux à intégrer la divulgation d’information financière liée au climat est la volonté de faire preuve de transparence quant à leurs mesures et aux progrès accomplis dans la réalisation de leurs objectifs climatiques et stratégiques, conformément aux engagements pris envers leur collectivité.
